Lagos de Moreno is one of those picturesque towns you immediately fall in love with, given the architecture and charming inhabitants found there. The city was founded in 1563 by a group of Spanish families, under the name of Villa de Santa María de Los Lagos. Its historic downtown is home to a series of architectural treasures which have been declared World Cultural Heritage sites by UNESCO. This Pueblo Mágico also forms part of the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro—the commercial route that used to run between Mexico City (Mexico City) and Santa Fe, New Mexico, from the 16th to the 19th century.
